Dr. Nikolai Penner joined the Department in 2008 and is a Teaching-Track Assistant Professor. He teaches mostly courses in the German language at various levels as well as a course in Sociolinguistics. His previous research focused on varieties of German spoken in North America (mostly on a group of German-speakers known as Russian Mennonites). Currently, Dr. Penner is pursuing research in the areas of Second Language Teaching and Acquisition, including Computer- and Mobile-Assisted Language Learning.
