Three students from Prof. Sonomi Iwata-Consul’s Japanese 2ZZ3 class participated in this year’s Ontario Japanese speech contest.   This highly competitive contest was held at the University of Toronto on Saturday, March 2nd 2019 and all three students won prizes!  This is the first time that all of our participating students won contest awards.

Nadia Mohammed won the first prize in the open category and will go to the national contest in Ottawa at the end of March!

Shenyinghao Zhang won the second prize in the intermediate category.

Keerthi Manimaran won the special prize in the beginners category.

Nadia and Shenyinghao each received $500 scholarships and Keerthi won dinner for two at a gourmet Japanese restaurant in Toronto.

Congratulations to all the winners!!

The first prize at the national contest is a ticket for a round trip from Toronto to Tokyo. Let’s all keep our fingers crossed for Nadia!
