This course explores the linguistic structure of contemporary English, focusing on the analysis of sentence structure (syntax), the meaning of words (lexical semantics) and the interaction of sentence structure, meaning and language use (pragmatics).
RUSSIAN 1ZZ3 – Intensive Beginner's Russian II
This course is designed to develop the four basic skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing. Students will continue to learn new vocabulary and the essentials of Russian grammar and to use them in simple conversations and in writing. The sequel to this course is Russian 2Z03.

Through integrated and interactive practice in reading, writing, listening and speaking, this course is intended to serve as a foundation for the advanced study of German language and culture. The sequels to this course are German 3Z03 and 3ZZ3.
LINGUIST 2RP3 A/B S – Individual Practicum in Indigenous Language Revitalization
In this Experiential Learning course, students learn hands-on skills either by working on a research project (e.g., running experiments, conducting fieldwork, reviewing literature) or on a pedagogical project with a focus on Indigenous language revitalization. Students can collaborate on a faculty member’s research project or propose a project to be supervised by a faculty member or jointly by an Indigenous community leader and a faculty member.
